Bieszczady National Park - Attractions for Kids

This is the perfect place to visit with children. The park offers a variety of attractions that combine nature with education and physical activity. Children can explore educational nature trails where they will learn fascinating facts about the flora and fauna of the Bieszczady Mountains. They can also visit the Nature Education Center, which features interactive exhibits and workshops. The park has wildlife observation points where children can see wild animals in their natural habitat, such as lynxes, bears, and bison. Hiking and biking tours provide a great opportunity to enjoy the fresh air while admiring the beauty of Bieszczady's nature. For view enthusiasts, the park offers many viewpoints to enjoy picturesque landscapes and breathtaking sunsets. Bieszczady National Park is an ideal place for families with children who want to enjoy nature, gain knowledge, and create beautiful memories.

📌Bieszczady Forest Railway Ride

The Bieszczady Forest Railway is a unique attraction for children. It is one of the most famous narrow-gauge railways in Poland, attracting thousands of tourists each year. The "Bieszczady Train" offers exciting rides from Majdan to Balnica and Przysłup, during which children can admire beautiful valleys and visit charming villages. There is also an open-air museum in Majdan with archival photos, railway-related exhibits, and prepared animals like wolves and bison. Riding the Bieszczady Forest Railway is an unforgettable experience for the whole family, perfect for exploring the nature and railway history of Bieszczady.

📌Walk on the Peat Bogs

The high peat bog in Tarnawa Wyżna is a charming Bieszczady peat bog, ideal for a walk with children. The educational path with wooden walkways allows for easy exploration, making it a popular spot for families strolling through the Bieszczady National Park.

📌Charcoal Burning in Bieszczady or the Charcoal Burning Museum

Charcoal burning in Bieszczady is not only an interesting attraction but also a great opportunity to share fascinating facts with children and teach them about the world. Although traditional charcoal burning methods are gradually being replaced by newer technologies, there are still places where you can see working retorts and talk to charcoal burners. One such place is near Łopienka. If you can't make it there, it's worth visiting the "Outdoor Charcoal Burning Museum" located before entering the village of Muczne. Here you can see exhibits and information boards presenting the history of the timber industry in Bieszczady and the stories of charcoal burners. It's a great opportunity to share interesting facts with children and expand their knowledge of the world during your trip.

 

📌Bison Enclosure in Muczne 

In Bieszczady, you can encounter bison, with 12 of them on display in a showcase enclosure in Muczne. The bison of the Białowieża-Caucasian breed make this place attractive for both children and adults. The bison showcase enclosure is a perfect break during hikes or a family trip idea, especially in bad weather. Viewing terraces allow for bison observation regardless of weather conditions. It's best to visit during feeding times, between 7:30-8:30 and 13:00-14:00. Visiting the enclosure is free, and there is an option to have a forest ranger guide. The enclosure is located on the Stuposiany - Tarnawa Niżna road, about 2 km before the village of Muczne. It's an extraordinary experience for nature lovers and a great opportunity to introduce children to bison.

📌Ride a Bicycle Trolley

This is an amazing adventure for the whole family, providing lots of joy for children. It's a unique way for an active trip that offers plenty of fun and entertainment. The rail bike is designed for four people (or five if there's a child), where two people can pedal. 
Routes vary, and the ride takes about 1.5-3.5 hours. Rentals are available in Uherce Mineralne and Ustrzyki Dolne. It's a wonderful opportunity to spend time together outdoors and enjoy the Bieszczady views.

📌Mini Zoo in Liszna, near Lesko

The Mini Zoo is a popular attraction for families with children. It's a small zoo where you can see a variety of animal species. You can find animals such as small kangaroos, llamas, ibexes, peacocks, ducks, hares, exotic birds, and many others. Children have the chance to get close to the animals, and some can even be fed. The Mini Zoo also hosts shows where you can learn more about the animals and their lives. It's a great place for learning and entertainment for the youngest.

Waterfalls

The Bieszczady Mountains feature waterfalls that make a huge impression and are an excellent way to show children the beauty of nature.

Visiting these waterfalls will surely provide children with unforgettable experiences and allow them to interact with the beauty of the Bieszczady nature. Here are a few of them:

  1. Siklawa Ostrowskich Waterfall in Wetlina: This small waterfall, 5 meters high, is one of the tallest in the Bieszczady cascades. Despite its size, it is picturesque and worth some attention. It's located on the Słowiański stream in Wetlina, near Stare Sioło.

  2. Szepit Waterfall on the Hylaty Stream: This impressive waterfall, 8 meters high, is located on the Hylaty stream. It can be reached via the "Hylaty" nature-historical trail, starting near the Bojkowska Chata in Zatwarnica. The waterfall is surrounded by visitor infrastructure such as benches and a viewing platform.

  3. Hulskie Reserve and Waterfall on the Hulskie Stream: The Hulskie Reserve was established to protect the rich beech-fir forests and diverse fauna. The reserve is home to many wild animals, such as lynxes, brown bears, wolves, eagles, and golden eagles. In the vicinity of the reserve, there is also a waterfall on the Hulskie stream, which further enriches the landscape.

Where to Go by the Water in Bieszczady?

Solina, known as the "Bieszczady Sea," is the perfect place for families with children on warm days!

Lake Solina 

It is a popular bathing and recreation spot where you can engage in water sports such as kayaking and sailing.
You can also take a gondola ride, offering incredible views of the lake. At the top of Mount Jawor, there is a viewing tower with a terrace and café. For children, the "Mystery Solina" amusement park is also attractive. Additionally, you can visit the water dam and power plant. It's a place full of adventure and learning for the whole family.

Solina Dam is a fascinating place for the whole family. You can walk along the dam's crest and admire the beautiful landscapes. The impressive concrete wall and abyss make a huge impression. You can also explore the dam's interior, learn about its history, and watch films about renewable energy. A particularly exciting experience is walking under the bottom of Lake Solina. It's an unforgettable experience for children. Just remember to wear warm clothes, as it's damp and cold inside. Solina Dam is a place that will captivate children with its extraordinary charm.

Bieszczady is a fascinating region offering many attractions. Picturesque landscapes, hiking trails, Mini Zoo in Liszna, Bieszczady National Park, and impressive waterfalls are just a few of them.
