Crown of Polish Mountains

What is it and why is it worth achieving? The Crown of Polish Mountains is an unofficial title awarded to those who have conquered the highest peaks of all mountain ranges in our country. This title has recently become very popular among mountain tourism enthusiasts, as a family challenge and also among school trip groups. It consists of 28 peaks, and achieving it requires a lot of time and effort.
Crown of Polish Mountains

The Crown of Polish Mountains was established in 1997, and to join the Conquerors of the Crown of Polish Mountains, you need to collect stamps and photos from all peaks after signing up for the club.
My children received special booklets a few years ago when catching Pokémon was popular... so collecting stamps was very appealing to them ;) Especially since the trips often had poor mobile network coverage.

How to start family climbing the Crown of Polish Mountains?

A child who is at least 7 years old can get a booklet. It's a great age to start longer trips.
We started a few years ago, and my first step was to print a map with all the peaks. Before the trip, we read a few route descriptions on other travelers' blogs. Preparation helped us minimize frequent mistakes, like parking in the wrong place or a 5-kilometer walk to the correct route ;)
On our first trip, we collected as many as 3 stamps from easier peaks. So far, the trips have been a great family time with: adventures, snacking on blueberries, counting steps, looking for the biggest rocks, eating all the chocolate supply (during the first 10 minutes), a few blisters, and teenage rebellions.

Definitely worth it ;) We treat the Crown of Polish Mountains as motivation for family trips and to get to know Poland better. We would like to climb the last, most difficult peaks with our children around their 18th birthdays as a symbolic entry into adulthood.

Climbing the Crown of Polish Mountains with a school class

I was very pleased when, at a high school meeting, the teachers decided to take on the challenge and, during 4 years of study, Conquer the Crown of Polish Mountains with interested students.

For school trip groups, conquering the Crown of Polish Mountains can be an excellent goal and motivation for physical preparation.
My daughter is after her first school trip, which she remembers very well. In our case, students, with the support of teachers, prepared the trip themselves, which made the 3-day trip cost about 400 zlotys.

Many travel agencies organize trips that include climbing popular peaks and will take care of all the organization, as well as arrange a guide who will ensure safety and make the route interesting with conversation.

When organizing your own trip, check offers from centers that have attractive accommodation and meal packages for organized groups.
Here you can see an example offer of an organized trip Lower Silesia - GOLDEN MOUNTAINS and SNIEZNIK MASSIF (4 days)

School trips organized as part of the Crown of Polish Mountains are not only great fun, but also an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge about the geography, history, and culture of the region.

When choosing a school trip to the Polish mountains, it is important to remember the most important aspect - safety. Thoroughly check the experience of the organizer and guide, remember, it's normal to adjust plans to the weather. In case of a drop in participants' strength, return or ask for help from other tourists or special services.
Also, save the emergency numbers of GOPR (Mountain Volunteer Rescue Service) in your phones: 985 or 601 100 300

How to prepare for conquering the Crown of Polish Mountains?

Where can you buy the Crown of Polish Mountains booklet?

If you want an official document, you must first join the Conquerors Club: you can only do this on the official Crown of Polish Mountains Club website.
The order is important because if we don't do this, after conquering the peaks, we won't receive a badge and won't be listed as conquerors. Once we receive the booklet, we can start planning our first trips. Remember to collect stamps and photos from the peaks.

Which peak to start the Crown of Polish Mountains from?

Start with simpler routes that are more like a walk than a mountain climb. Examples include Łysica 612m above sea level or Ślęża 718m above sea level
You should appropriately choose the route according to the participants' abilities, make sure that their health condition allows such physical effort and there are no health contraindications.
It is also important that the route is safe and adapted to weather conditions. I recommend buying special booklets that describe the trails.

Choosing a guide - For more difficult routes, it is worth going with an experienced Guide.

If you are going on a school trip that you are organizing yourself and undertaking larger peaks, a good guide is a key element of a successful trip.
The guide should have appropriate qualifications and experience, as well as know the region and tourist trails.

Choosing a company organizing the trip

It is important to choose a reputable company with good references. You should check the company's offer, including the route, trip cost, and included attractions.

Safety

Before the trip, ensure proper insurance for trip participants and equip them with necessary gear, such as appropriate shoes, jackets, provisions, or comfortable backpacks.

What does the Crown of Polish Mountains offer?

Conquering the Crown of Polish Mountains is not only great fun but also a huge satisfaction for tourists. After each conquered peak, you will feel pride and motivation to conquer more peaks. It's also a great opportunity to spend time with family or peers, to make new friends, and to broaden your horizons.

School trips under the Crown of Polish Mountains are a great opportunity to interest young people in tourism and nature. Thanks to them, you can develop a passion, gain new experiences, and develop interpersonal and leadership skills. It is also a great opportunity to encourage young people to spend their free time actively, which can have a positive impact on their health and physical development.
