Choosing the right snacks from the myriad options on store shelves is a challenge. As a food technologist and dietitian, I evaluated the best snacks Biedronka has to offer.
What to Buy at Biedronka? A List of the Best Snacks

The most commonly chosen snacks for children at Biedronka were:

  • bars

  • purees

  • dried fruits

  • salty sticks, cookies

Tips for Choosing BARS – How to Make Smart Shopping Decisions?

  • Ingredient Analysis – A short list of ingredients is key. Choose bars where natural ingredients like dates, flakes, or nuts appear first.

  • High Protein Content – Opt for bars rich in protein, providing a longer feeling of fullness.

  • High Fiber Content – Choose bars with plenty of fiber to support proper digestion.

  • Conscious Sugar Consumption – Ensure sugar is not the first ingredient listed.

  • Caloric Value – Calculate the calories per serving. Check both per 100 g and per specific bar mass.

  • Calorie Consideration – Since a bar is not a meal replacement, choose those with less than 250 kcal per serving.

  • Minimize Sugar – Look for bars with little or no sugar (glucose-fructose syrup is also sugar!).

  • Limit Saturated Fats – Avoid bars with high saturated fat content, often linked to palm oil presence.

For healthy eating habits, choose bars that meet these criteria. At Biedronka, you can find bars with good composition; from those assessed, I chose the Vitanella Raw Cocoa bar as the best.

✅ This bar contains only 3 ingredients: date paste 68%, coconut flakes 26%, cocoa powder 6% and provides 174 kcal.

Tips for Choosing PUREES – How to Make Smart Shopping Decisions?

  • Additional Elements – Look for purees enriched with additions like flakes, nuts, or yogurt, providing extra nutrients to keep you full longer.

  • Avoid Additional Sweetening – Remember, purees are naturally rich in simple sugars. Choose those without added sweeteners.

As a Food Technologist and Dietitian, I believe purchasing and introducing purees into a child's diet should be approached with moderation. Remember, raw fruits and vegetables are always a better choice than purees. Check out the full article dedicated to purees for more information. Among the available options at Biedronka, I chose the Lubella di Riso puree because, besides fruits, it contains rice and yogurt, keeping you fuller longer compared to fruit purees.

Dried Fruits

At Biedronka, it's best to use those available by weight. The rule is simple, the ingredients should only be the fruits themselves. Choose products without unnecessary additives like salt or sugar.

However, keep in mind that dried fruits provide a significant number of calories in small amounts. Therefore, it's best to include them in the diet as an addition to salads or oatmeal.

Salty Sticks, Cookies…

Unfortunately, these products are often heavily processed and should be limited in both children's and adults' diets.

Occasional consumption of a product with an unfavorable composition won't harm us much, but regular consumption can significantly impact our health. Among the products received, I did not choose a specific product to recommend. However, check out the articles I recommended from Auchan.

Remember, a daily diet should be based on unprocessed foods rich in vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber. Snacks can, of course, have their place in the diet but should not become a permanent part of the menu.
