How Much Money to Give Your Child for Camp?

Alongside a set of clothes, shoes, a smartphone or smartwatch, and other essential life accessories, a camper's backpack should include pocket money. Should it be in cash or perhaps a debit card? But let's start with the most important question - how much money to give your child for camp?
Should You Give Pocket Money at All?
Some people believe not, because by paying for the child's stay at camp, they provide everything. We believe it's worthwhile, even if your little one is very young and there's a risk they'll spend the money on trivial things. Making independent decisions about spending even a small amount is the first lesson in learning how to manage money. Secondly, having money gives the child the opportunity to buy a drink, a snack during free time, or a souvenir while visiting interesting places.
How Much Money to Give?
Once again, there is no consensus among parents, leading to endless discussions on various forums. Some say 200, others 300, and still others 500. The amount you allocate should depend on:
your own budget and financial capabilities,
the child's age,
the length of the holiday,
the holiday destination (different prices apply abroad, and in Poland, it's more expensive in "trendy" or "popular" places),
whether the organizer has planned additional paid attractions, like entry to amusement parks.
Cash or Debit Card?
This is another question we decided to consider. Cash is tempting, especially in large amounts, which is why theft and fraud occur. Cash runs out, hence the expression "Dear money, send parents." With a card, it's easier and safer. It's easy to hide, carry, and in the age of electronic payments, you can practically settle bills anywhere. In case of loss, it can be quickly blocked. If necessary, it can be quickly topped up.
Money exerts a strong influence on adults, let alone on young or small people. It's worth carefully considering the amount of pocket money for camp, so that the child or teenager doesn't get carried away but instead feels safe and enjoys a good time during the trip.
