Winter in the city doesn't have to be dull. There are plenty of attractions for those who like to be active and for those who prefer more static activities. One of the more popular winter activities is ice skating. Why should you give it a try?
Ice Skating and Rinks – Winter Activities in the City

Those who live in a city with a professional ice rink can consider themselves truly lucky. Firstly, because they almost certainly have access to instructor guidance, and right next to the rink, there's a skate rental shop where you can rent not only skates but also helmets, and those who own their skates can take advantage of sharpening services.

Secondly, because skating takes place on professionally prepared ice. Most cities can't boast such a facility, so some have rinks under a tent or open-air ones. For those without even these options, frozen natural water bodies are the alternative. But be careful! Safety first! Before stepping onto such ice, check the thickness and condition of the ice cover! Natural and artificial rinks have their pros and cons, such as weather dependency and skating time limited by "sessions."

Why is ice skating worth it?

When ice skating, your whole body works – all muscle groups are forced to maintain balance and movement. Thanks to this activity:

  • you keep your cardiovascular and respiratory system in good condition,
  • you strengthen and shape your abdomen, legs, and buttocks,
  • you improve movement coordination,
  • you boost immunity and well-being,
  • you have a great time with friends.

Whether we are beginner or advanced skaters, we are obliged to follow the rules of the facility. Recklessness, the desire to show off, or prohibited games during skating sessions can lead to unfortunate falls. Someone who wants to do spins or play hockey should definitely visit the rink at another time for different activities.
